Student Innovation Project

What is Sinfonia?

Sinfonia is a music based program whose purpose is to serve as a teaching tool for those wanting to play the piano. It incorporates the visuals, narrative, and enjoyment of a rhythm video game, all the while weaving in the tools necessary to learn the piano. This is done by connecting the piano to the program through the electronic device of choice, and using the piano as the games/programs controller. the user will then have the choice of how they want to learn through several different modes/settings within the program. This program is to make the learning process for the piano an enjoyable experience, rather than a tedious one.

Why This Product?

With the advancement and reliance of technology, the digital age has served to provide anything from entertainment to everyday information at the touch of a button. This however, has had the adverse effect on peoples attention span. When learning any skill, it can be a tedious task, and staying motivated long enough to make progress is tough in its own right. The goal of this product is to implement the interactivity, and the engagement that a rhythm video game offers and weave it into the learning process for the piano. This will serve to keep the engagement of people (both young and old), through the learning process until they start to gain skill with the instrument. With the arts department in public schools being cut, and attention spans shortening due to the digital age, this product hopes to bring the spark and enjoyment of music, specifically the piano, back to people through an affordable game/app/program.
